WHERE IT ALL STARTED:
I once saw a photograph of a young woman from Kenya wearing a beautiful necklace. Her remarkable necklace was made from a mixture of beads, buttons, small sticks and the crowning centerpiece... house keys! The piece was truly stunning on her. She carried it with the demeanor of a queen. That necklace gave birth to the concept of Latitude Blue Jewelry- the idea of simple materials mixed with a treasure item!
THE HISTORY:
Craftsmen in underdeveloped countries have always used natural resources such as seeds, plants, trees, stones and common objects to make beads that reflect their heritage and culture. I appreciate their resourcefulness and am inspired to use many of these natural materials as the backbone of my designs. I strive to make elegant and simple jewelry fusing styles from all latitudes.
